Cutting Out Caffeine
Caffeine – This is a major cause of panic attacks in many people. Cut out caffeine entirely for a while and see if it helps you. Three days after my first panic attack, I quit caffeine forever. The first two weeks of withdrawal were brutal. I felt like a walking zombie most of the time. If you can endure that first month, you’ll realize how dependent you were on caffeine just to function normally. I have been off caffeine since April 24, 2010. It's pretty amazing, considering before my first panic attack I regularly had 2 monster energy drinks and 3 ...
Constant Tension Headaches
For the past two weeks I've had a tension headache everyday. It felt like a tight band around my head. I also could feel tension around my face and jaw area. I only found relief through naps or putting a ice pack on my head or behind my neck. I've also been experiencing heartburn and reflux all of a sudden. Very weird. So I put my detective hat on and tried to figure this thing out. Like most panic suffers, I am very sensitive to bodily sensations. Any new sensation is prone to cause another panic attack so I wanted to ...
Journal Entry 7.26.10 – Psych!
My first visit with a Psychiatrist today. Yay. Wow, it’s 20 minutes past my appointment time. Fine, I can observe the other “crazies” as they wait for an anxiety clinic. I hope I witness someone having a panic attack in person. The first guy I notice trembles as he fills out a questionnaire. Everyone else seems calm. Nobody is sweating, hyperventilating, or otherwise freaking out. I get the feeling these people really don’t have anxiety/panic disorder. I definitely have it the worse out of all these jokers. After waiting 20 minutes past ...
Journal Entry 4.21.10 – My First Panic Attack
Just got home after being rushed to the hospital from work. I was trembling uncontrollably at my desk. Heart was pounding through my chest. My desperate attempts to breathe were denied. I almost fainted. The doctors tested my heart, blood sugar, etc ... everything was fine. I still don't believe them. What I just experienced ... was NOT normal. So according to the doctor ... I had a panic attack today. He seemed so nonchalant about it. Funny, I thought he was going to congratulate me on narrowly escaping death. 8:08 am I sit at my desk. Answer the phone. Whoa ... I ...

Before today, I went 14 straight days without a panic attack. In fact, I went 14 straight days without taking Xanax! Had a little bump in the road this morning. Here’s what happened: 4:30 am Alarm goes off. What the hell have I got myself into? Where am I? Oh … now I remember. I’m in a hotel across from Disneyland. Today’s the... [Read more]

It’s nights like tonight that make me feel like I’m the only one in the entire world going through this pain. I went to see the comedian, Jokoy, at the Brea Improv. I popped a couple Xanax pills an hour prior so I was fairly confident I’d have a good time. So I’m sitting there while he’s is up on stage crackin’ jokes... [Read more]
It’s been nearly a month since my first panic attack. I usually take one .25 mg Xanax pill a day. Sometimes I can take the weekends off – IF … I’m staying home. I’m almost out of these wonderful white little pills. The fact I’m low on them is causing anxiety. Today’s my follow up visit with my family physician.... [Read more]
I’m at church. I look around … everyone looks OK. I on the other hand, feel faint. Arms numb … again. I don’t know … I just feel … off. I go into the bathroom to discretely breathe into a paper bag. This is so humiliating. Lunch time. Chinese Buffet. Usually a good time, but I’m not hungry. Something is DEFINITELY... [Read more]
